In January, Asics release version 24 of the Nimbus and version 3 of the Nimbus Lite; Altra release the Lone Peak v6; and adidas released version 22 of the Ultraboost.
Saucony Peregrine 12 is released in February. In March the New Balance 1080 V12 and Brooks Glycerin are released.
Lululemon announces their range of women’s running shoes.
In June, Atreyu release their trail model.
Several new running shoe brands come to market, including Naked, Alvar_trail, O2 EXPLORER, Vodetik, Skdoiul, Lululemon, Tarkine, Hilma, NNormal, UNPause, ApexBeat, Tracksmith and 4T2.
ASICS release version 29 of the Kayano in August.
In August, the Maclaren Automotive Group announced their partnership with Athletic Propulsion Labs to produce the APL Mclaren Hyspeed running shoe.
Puma filed a lawsuit against Brooks over the use of the term and the technology for the nitrogen infused running shoes.
What else happened in 2022?
On January 7, the number of COVID-19 cases officially exceeded 300 million worldwide.
In early January, the world number one ranked tennis player Novak Djokovic is involved in a dispute with the Australian Government Border Security due to him not being vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the Australian Tennis Open in Melbourne. His visa was cancelled. The Australian Open was won by Rafael Nadal.
On February 4 – 20, the Winter Olympics were held in Beijing, China.
In March, Russia invades Ukraine.
In May was the beginning of the 2022 Monkeypox outbreak. In July, the WHO declared it a public health emergency of international concern.
In June, the singer, Justin Bieber announced that he had Ramsay Hunt syndrome
On September 8th, Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms passed away.
The Commonwealth Games are held in Birmingham, UK form July 28 to August 8.
