Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) is an imprint of the publishing company, Wolters Kluwer.
Lippincott Williams & Wilkins started out in Philadelphia as a bookstall run by Benjamin Warner and Jacob Johnson in 1792. It was taken over by Joshua Ballinger Lippincott in 1836 and eventually operated under the name, J. B. Lippincott Company. In 1978, the company was sold to Harper & Row and the focus changed to publishing activities exclusively in health care. They were acquired by Wolters Kluwer in 1990. It was later merged with Raven Press to become Lippincott-Raven Publishers in 1995, which subsequently merged with Williams & Wilkins, to become Lippincott Williams & Wilkins in 1998.
At the forefront of the publishing innovation in digital channels, Lippincott is transforming how research is produced, distributed, accessed, and consumed. Lippincott is leading the digital evolution of medical journals for societies, authors and advertisers, helping them to create compelling reader and audience engagement opportunities with multimedia and interactive content.
