John Wiley & Sons Inc, more commonly known as Wiley is an American multinational publishing company that was founded in 1807 by Charles Wiley in New York and is now headquartered in Hoboken, New Jersey. Wiley has been publicly owned since 1962 and were listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1995.
In 2007 they acquired Blackwell Publishing to create a Scientific, Technical, Medical, and Scholarly (STMS) division that is often referred to as Wiley-Blackwell which publishes many journals. In 2021, Wiley acquired Hindawi which still operates under that banner and has a substantial presence in open-source journals. Wiley’s brands include Bloomberg Press, For Dummies series and the Cochrane Library. Wiley have over 5000 employees and a revenue of $1.7 billion in 2017.
