Bunion/Hallux abducto valgus Procedures
Probably more different procedures described for hallux valgus than any other condition. The first ray/metatarsal, first metatarsophalangeal joint, and the hallux play a major role in dynamic function of the foot importance of a good surgical result. The major weightbearing function of this part of the foot makes it more difficult to get a good result. Many authors have developed algorithms or charts to assist with the choice of procedure . Choice of procedure depends on many factors, such as age, patient expectations, intermetatarsal angle, hallux angle, size of medial prominence, extent of osteoarthritis, angle of metatarsocuneiform joint, displacement of sesamoids and the extent of subluxation of joint.
