Cyprus is a island sovereign state officially called the Republic of Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is a member state of the European Union. Its location is east of Greece, south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, north west of Israel and north of Egypt. The capital is Nicosia and the official languages are Greek and Turkish.

There are approximately 40 podiatrists in Cyprus with most having been trained in the United Kingdom. There is no podiatry course in Cyprus. {Need more information on registration/licence to practice}

The main sports played in Cyprus include the football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, cricket and rugby.

Diabetes Prevalence: 10.4%

Expenditure on health care in Cyprus  is 5.8% of GDP.  Smoking is a particular problem in Cyprus and the rates are considered high by international standards.
