Absorption
The absorption of a drug is concerned with the movement of a drug from its administration site into the systemic circulation until it becomes available for use by the body. The properties of a drug will have an influence on the most suitable route – especially if it has to pass through the wall of the gastrointestinal tract following oral ingestion. The rate of absorption is important, as it determines when a drug becomes pharmacologically available.
