Tissues are removed for analysis used for diagnostic purposes
5 methods of tissue removal:
• excisional (removal of all of tissue and some of surrounding normal tissue)
• incisional (removal of small section of abnormal tissue)
• endoscopic (removal of deep tissue by use of endoscope)
• aspiration (withdrawal of fluid)
• amputation (removal of part, eg toe)
