Anta are a sporting goods manufacturer based in China. Included in their range of products are running shoes and they are the largest manufacture of athletic shoes in China. ‘Anta’ means ‘safe step’ in Chinese. They are headquartered in Jinjiang, Fujian. Anta Sports was established in 1994 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2007, raising US$406 million in the initial public offering. They own the Fila trademark for China and Hong Kong, where they market that brand as more of a high end product compared to the mass market for the Anta brand. In China, they mostly market to the 2nd and 3rd tier cities where they are more dominant than competitors such as Nike and Adidas who dominate the market in the first tier cities.
