First Aid and CPR Requirements for Podiatrists in Canada:

Ontario:
College of Chiropodists of Ontario requires that the member will be certified/recertified in CPR at least every three years and support staff should be encouraged to seek certification.

British Columbia:
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia Registration Policy of Continuing Competency Requirements for Podiatric Surgeons requires that “Registrants may complete continuing professional development activities through nonaccredited sources…” that can include a maximum of 3 hours of CPR.

Manitoba:
The College of Podiatrists of Manitoba members are required to maintain currency in CPR on an annual basis and First Aid re-certification every three years as per the Practice Standards. Registration requires proof of currency in CPR & First Aid. The relevant legislation requires that in addition to the minimum CPD requirements:

In addition, it is mandatory that an update be achieved in:
i. Basic Life Support (CPR) every year, and
ii. First Aid once every 3 years, commencing January 2007

Alberta:
The College of Podiatric Physicians of Alberta requires members to have a valid and current CPR certificate in order to renew their practice permit annually.

Saskatchewan
The requirements of the Saskatchewan College of Podiatrists are not known (can anyone help?).
Section 28 of the Saskatchewan College of Podiatrists of the Regulatory Bylaws require that:

(h) ensure that adequate medical supplies are on the premises for the purpose of handling anticipated medical emergencies which might arise in the course of, and as a result of, any podiatry care or treatment given to a patient.

New Brunswick:
The requirements in New Brunswick is not known (can anyone help?).

Newfoundland and Labrador:
The requirements in Newfoundland and Labrador is not known (can anyone help?).

Nova Scotia:
The requirements in Nova Scotia is not known (can anyone help?).

Prince Edward Island:
The requirements in Prince Edward Island is not known (can anyone help?).

Quebec:
The requirements in Quebec is not known (can anyone help?).
