Glucocorticoid inhalants:
• used in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• eg beclomethasone chronic bronchitis; dexamethasone bronchial asthma; cromolyn sodium allergic rhinitis
• reduces symptoms of asthma by suppressing inflammation
• usually indicated for prophylaxis of chronic asthma
• contraindicated in acute bronchospasm
