Glucocorticoid inhalants:
• used in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• eg beclomethasone  chronic bronchitis; dexamethasone  bronchial asthma; cromolyn sodium  allergic rhinitis
• reduces symptoms of asthma by suppressing inflammation
• usually indicated for prophylaxis of chronic asthma
• contraindicated in acute bronchospasm
