Neostigmine:
• intensify effect of acetylcholine at all neuromuscular junctions where acetylcholine is the transmitter
• effects – increased exocrine gland secretions; increase motility of gastrointestinal tract; bradycardia; bronchial constriction; miosis in eye; focusing of eye for near vision; increased force of skeletal muscle contraction; mild CNS stimulation
• used for myasthenia gravis
