Histocompatibility Antigens:
Prevalence of some (eg HLA-B27) is up to 10% in general population, but has higher prevalence in some disease states.
The value of HLA typing for diagnostic purposes is limited and costly – eg absence of HLAB-27 does not preclude diagnosis.
