Red Blood Cell/Erythrocyte Indices:
Measure of the quality and characteristics of the erythrocyte and haemoglobin concentration
• MCHC (Mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration) = Hgb/Hct; calculates the average concentration of haemoglobin in the average erythrocyte; decrease  iron deficiency anaemia
• MCH (Mean corpuscular haemoglobin) = Hgb/RBC; calculates the weight of the haemoglobin in the average erythrocyte; decrease  iron deficiency anaemia
• MCV (Mean corpuscular volume) = Hct/RBC; calculates the average erythrocyte size; increase  pernicious anaemia, folate deficiency; decrease  iron deficiency anaemia, lead poisoning, microcytic anaemia.
