Creatinine:
By-product of creatine – used for energy storage in muscle
Normally 0.5-1.2mg/100ml.
Increased kidney disease, myocardial infarction, SLE, diabetic neuropathy
Decreased muscular dystrophy, renal disease, hyperparathyroidism.
Creatinine Clearance:
Used to assess renal/kidney function. 24 hour urine specimen collected – measure serum creatinine value. Normally 85-135ml/min
