Alkaline phosphatase:
Enzyme in liver and bone. Normally 32-128 units/l.
Increase increased bone metabolism (healing fracture, neoplasm), Paget’s disease, pregnancy, liver disease (especially biliary obstruction), certain drugs, Caffey’s Syndrome, hyperparathyroidism
Decrease malnutrition, excess vitamin D ingestion, hypothyroidism, pernicious anaemia
