Lateral:
Patient standing in angle and base of gait with weight evenly distributed between the two feet
Film vertical in slot of orthoposer or podium between feet with the foot being x-rayed against the film. The other foot will generally be abducted to the film.
Central ray is directed 90 degrees to the film and aimed at the lateral cuneiform, 60 cm from the film
allows visualisation of talus, calcaneus, cuboid – some of navicular and medial cuneiform. Metatarsal and phalanges overlap.
can used a ‘block’ to elevate a digit to visualise phalanges
