Meniere’s disease
Chronic condition of inner ear. Most cases >50yrs.
Complex of four symptoms that may or may not occur simultaneously:
• dizziness/spinning vertigo
• low frequency hearing loss
• tinnitus
• feeling of ‘fullness’ in ears
Clinical features:
Initially have intermittent attacks of vertigo that last from a few minutes to a few hours – often accompanied with nausea and vomiting.
May have long period of remission.
