Peroneus longus and brevis

Peroneus longus and brevis:
• patient supine with the leg internally rotated.
• stabilises the leg, just above the ankle joint.
• test eversion of the foot and plantarflexion of the ankle joint by having the patient plantarflex and evert the foot while applying a pressure against the lateral border and plantar surface of the foot in the direction of inversion of the foot and dorsiflexion of the ankle joint.
• peroneus can be isolated by also dorsiflexing the first ray
