Trendelenburg Gait

Trendelenburg/Myopathic Gait (‘Waddling gait’):

Opposite side of pelvis drops in relation to the weightbearing side; weakness in the gluteal muscles lets the pelvis lurch towards the affected (weightbearing) side; when bilateral  ‘lurching’ or ‘waddling’ gait

eg muscular dystrophy; metabolic muscle disorders; motor neuron disease; spinal muscular atrophy; congenital hip dysplasia
