The McLaren Group are most well known for their Formula One racing team and the luxury cars that they manufacture. In August 2022, they announced their foray into the running shoe market with a partnership with Athletic Propulsion Labs, launching their first shoe, the APL McLaren HySpeed. The price of the shoe was USD$450.

The design features of these shoes include the 3 piece segmented midsole that has APL’s FutureFoam pods in the front and rear. Across the gap between the two pods is a full-length carbon fiber plate and a nitrogen infused midsole compound. The carbon fiber plate has a directional weave aimed to encourage forward movement and add energy return. The upper is non-stretch APL TechLoom.
