Drugs that inhibit platelet activity:
Platelet aggregation inhibitors affect the formation of the chemical signals that promote platelet aggregation.
Indicated for prophylaxis or arterial thrombosis and during treatment of myocardial infarction.
eg NSAID’s (including aspirin); sulphinpyrazone; dipyridamole; dextrans; dazoxiben; epoprostnol
NSAID’s inhibit the formation of TXA2 (thromboxane); dipyridamole decrease platelet adhesion to damaged endothelium
