ADME is a mnemonic or abbreviation used in pharmacology to help learn the pharmacokinetics of drugs:
Absorption – how does the drug get into the body?
Distribution – were will the drug go in the body?
Metabolism – how will the body break it down?
Excretion – how will the body remove it?
There are variations on this:
LADME – liberation (how the body takes it?; ingestion)
ADMET– toxicity (how toxic is it to the body?)
LADMET – liberation; absorption; distribution; metabolism; excretion; toxicity
Mnemonics are a system such as a pattern of letters, ideas, or associations which assists in remembering something.
