Xelero are a brand of footwear that carries several running shoe models that have some unique design features, some of which are patented. The brand started out as more of a walking shoe brand with the shoes designed to have a forward rocking motion. It is only recently that they added several running shoes. The shoes are also deeper than typical running shoes so are more accommodative of foot orthotics if needed. The walking models of the brand are popular for that extra depth design. The company is based in Hillsborough Township, NJ.
Their marketing materials claim:
Xelero delivers “the motion you want while providing the control you need”. We believe, Xelero offers the best motion control shoes in the market. The cutting-edge Technology provides unparalleled stability and control under the foot!
The 2009 patent that underpins the design of the shoes in summary:
A footwear sole assembly for walking with a rolling action is described. An elastically compressible midsole element is provided with a rolling element situated in and extending over a portion of the length and over at least a portion of the width of the midsole element. The rolling element consists at least partially of a resilient material and is disposed at least in that region of the midsole which is opposite to the arch of the wearer’s foot. This shoe offers the rolling gait advantages of the well known MBT shoe, but has a different construction which enables it to retain the outward appearance of conventional shoes such as trainers.
