Odds Ratio

An odds ratio (OR) is a measure of association between an exposure and an outcome. The odd ration represents the odds or chance that an outcome will occur given a particular exposure, compared to the odds or chance of that outcome occurring in the absence of that exposure.

The odds ratios can be calculated from several different statistical tests (eg a binomial logistic regression, ordinal logistic regression, multinomial logistic regression, etc).

Assumptions for Calculating the Odds Ratio:
– there are one dichotomous dependent variable and one dichotomous independent variable
– there was an independence of observations,
