Management of Clubfoot by JESS: Joshi’s External Stabilization System by BB Joshi, Ramola Prabhoo, BG Kanaji and Sandhya Kaushik

The technique of controlled fractional differential distraction was first introduced in 1989 and the work was presented at the First International Conference on Clubfoot at Milwaukee (USA) in 1990. We used an indigenously made external fixator device which has now evolved as the Joshi’s External Stabilization System (JESS). This system works well in all severity grades of the deformity, neglected clubfoot as well as resistant and relapsed feet especially in children below three years.
