Joe Biden (born 20 November, 1942) was the 46th President of the USA and the 47th vice president (2009- 2017) under President Barack Obama. He represented Delaware in the USA Senate from 1973 to 2009.
Ankle Fracture:
While playing with his dog at home in December 2020, Biden tripped and sustained a hairline fracture in his ankle. It was initially thought that he had sprained his ankle, but a subsequent CT scan revealed the hairline fractures. This required that he wear a moon boot for several weeks and it healed uneventfully.
The QAnon conspiracy theorists were soon claiming that Biden had actually been arrested (he hadn’t) and the moon boot was hiding an ankle tracking bracelet (it wasn’t).
Tripping Incident:
On Friday 2 June 2023, Biden, then 80 years old, was passing out diplomas to graduates of the USA Air Force Academy at the Falcon Stadium near Colorado Springs when he tripped over a sand bag and had a fall:

Attention was widely drawn to the horse shoe appearance on the heel of his shoes with substantial speculation and curiosity on social media as to what they were for. Speculation were that they were added to make him taller (he is already 6ft 0in/183cm); that it was a magnet to make him more stable (magnets need metal surfaces); that they are a non-slip rubber attachment designed to provide stability and prevent falling (they failed in this case); to help pain in the heel (he did not have heel pain). Some even joked they were for GPS tracking of the president or even some sort of listening device.
There was nothing untoward about the heels. The brand of shoes are the luxury brand, Campanile, from Italy and that is how they make the shoes. The horse shoe like appearance is most likely nothing more than a wight saving measure so that they shoes are lighter. Such designs also reduce time in the molding machine for the outersole during the manufacturing process. Other brands also have similar designs in the heel.
President Joe Biden’s Medical History:
On 16 February 2023, the Physician to the President, Dr Kevin C O’Connor released his report into the current health status of President Joe Biden. The highlights and relevant parts of this report were:
- he had COVID-19 in July 2022 and was fully vaccinated
- stable atrial fibrillation (taking apixaban)
- stable hyperlipidemia (taking rousuvastatin)
- stable gastroesophageal reflux (taking famotidine)
- stiffened gait from osteoarthritic changes
- mild sensory peripheral neuropathy of the feet
- has seen a podiatrist and wears custom foot orthotics
Concluding that:
President Biden remains a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male, who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief
