On April 4 2016 CBCNews published an investigation following a complaint from a patient of Pierre Dupont's who had an adverse outcome following surgery for flat feet allegedly with the HyProCure implant. The CBCNews investigation revealed that he was previously banned as a dentist in Quebec.

Timeline:
1992-1998: Several complaints to the dental regulator about Pierre Dupont
2000: One of Pierre Dupont patients dies while in the dental cahir
2005: The Ordre des dentistes du Québec bans Pierre Dupont for life
2006: Starts training as a Podiatrist at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. The University tried to block him due to the ban from dentistry, but Dupont successfully challenged that in court.
2011: The licensing body in Quebec refused to license him, but an appeal was successful.
2012: The College of Chiropodists of Ontario approves registration for him as a chiropodist in Ontario and he begins work at the Ottawa Foot Practice.
April 2016: CBCNews publish the story about patient complaints and their investigation into the background.
April 2016: The College places a restriction on his work:

Mr. Dupont has voluntarily agreed to the imposition of the following term, condition and limitation:
(1) Mr. Dupont may not perform any procedure on a client involving the use of a stent.

April 2016: It is revealed that he may not have been using the HyProCure implants, but his own imitation version that he claimed was superior. GraMedica issued a press release on this.
May 2016: The College changes the restrictions:

Mr. Dupont has voluntarily agreed to the imposition of the following terms, conditions and limitations:
(1) Mr. Dupont will not manufacture or customize any stent; and
(2) Mr. Dupont may not perform any procedure on a client involving the use of a stent.

May 2016: A class action is filed against Pierre Dupont, the Ottawa Foot Practice, and the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.

GraMedica has removed Dupont from its list of recommended HyProCure surgeons. According to CBCNews, the maker is also seeking legal recourse to stop Dupont from using the HyProCure name.

Due to the ongoing controversy a presentation on the HyProCure implant at the Ontario Society of Chiropodists conference is pulled at the request of GraMedica.

July 2017:
Pierre Dupont has his license to practice in Ontario revoked.
