Principles:

Apply to foot, shoe or insole

Tincture of benzoin – protects skin and helps adhere

Pressure relief:
• aperture slightly larger than area, bony prominence or lesion (may cut accommodation/aperture slightly smaller and stretch pad)
• needs to be large enough to off load area
• extended distally

Careful that pad does not impinge on nerve, rest on nail grove or nail

Skive/bevel edges – avoids irritation from edge of pad and removes excessive bulk
