The use of drugs on or trough the sin is targeted at 3 locations :
1) The skin (topical delivery)
2) Deeper tissues (regional delivery)
3) Systemic circulation (transdermal delivery)
Factors that affect absorption:
• stratum corneum – limits absorption; varies with body site
• occlusion – increases hydration and temperature increases absorption
• frequency of application – appears not to affect efficacy
