Methylxanthines:
Act as CNS stimulators, bronchodilators, cardiac stimulators, vasodilator and diuretic
Theophylline:
• main methylxanthines
• produces bronchodiliation but unknown methods (may block receptors for adenosine)
• used orally for chronic stable asthma
• IV used for emergencies
