Antidiarrhoeal drugs:
• used for diarrhoea
• mechanisms of action:
• slow intestinal motility  reduce water absorption from stool (eg difenoxin, loperamide)
• reduce fluid content of stool (eg attapulgite)
• adverse reactions – constipation, drowsiness, nausea, abdominal pain
