Livedo Reticularis

Vasoconstrictive disorder of subpapillary venous plexus of dermis characterised by reddish-blue mottling in a reticular (“fish net”) pattern. Most are in females <40 years of age.

Believed to be due to arteriolar constriction with stasis and dilation of capillaries and veins  capillaries fill with unsaturated blood  mottled/netlike blotchy appearance of skin – bluish/reddish.

Ulceration can occur.

Most concerns are cosmetic and symptoms uncommon; may have symptoms related to underlying disease.
