Complete blood count (CBC):
One of most common lab tests ordered – performed on whole anticoagulated blood; used as a routine diagnostic screen. Provides a count of each type of blood cell in the circulation. Carried out by automated analysers.
Includes – total leucocyte count, erythrocyte count, haemoglobin level, haematocrit, red blood cell indices and platelet count.
