Fan Toes/Divergent toes

A deformity which occurs when two or more digits splay in opposing directions.

Clinical Appearance:
May be apparent at rest, but becomes more exaggerated on stance.

Intermetatarsal lesions – bursitis, neuroma, arthritic conditions  fanning occur because of oedema in the surrounding soft tissues)
Metatarsus adductus (fanning of the first and fifth toes away from the other lessor digits)
Muscle imbalance (over pull of the dorsal interossei will create an abduction force of toes 3, 4, 5 away from the second.)

Depends on cause
Treat soft tissue conditions
Toe splinting
