Cleft Feet / Lobster Claw Foot
Rare (~1 in 200 000 live births). Congenital (autosomal dominant).
Gross deformity of the digits where the digits resemble a claw.
Absence of some or all of central rays claw like appearance
Can be associated with other foot deformities, cleft palate and deafness.
Believed to be something disturbing growth during first 8-12 weeks in utero.
Treatment:
Conservative – shoe accommodation/custom made footwear
Surgical to establish a functional foot – can not achieve a normal appearing foot.
