Foot compartment syndrome

Occurs in up to 10% of calcaneal fractures.

Clinical features:
More severe pain and burning than would get from fracture alone. Tense swelling.
May get – pain on dorsiflexion of toes, loss of two point discrimination, motor deficits , decreased vibration perception.

Long term complications – claw toes

Management:
Immediate fasciotomy.
