Subjective sensation of an inner restlessness – often associated with inability to sit still and appear anxious. Does not feel relief with movement, but fell compelled to move. Often associated with antipsychotic drugs – usually occurs within a few days of starting drug and can affect up to 20%. Differential diagnosis – psychotic agitation seen in psychiatric disorders; restless legs syndrome (movement relieves). Treatment – withdrawal of medication propranolol or anticholinergic agents may help some
