Macrophages:
Form in bone marrow as monocytes and widely distributed evolve into macrophages in tissues.
Primary function is phagocytosis
Act as antigen presenting cells (APC’s)
Secrete soluble proteins that activate T cells; T cells release chemical that make macrophages to become ‘activated macrophages’
