Lateral Oblique (LO) projection:
Nonweigthbearing:
Patient is sitting with the plantar surface of the foot against various wedges
Central ray is directed at the lateral cuneiform, 900 to the film and 60 cm from the film.
Weightbearing:
Patient is standing in angle and base of gait on film – central beam is at 45 aimed at lateral cuneiform from the lateral side
Used to visualise the metatarsophalangeal joints, midfoot joints, anterior and posterior subtalar joints, posterior aspect of calcaneus.
