Relationship Between Bones / Radiographic Charting
Measurements/charting are used to assess foot types and deformity; determine outcomes of surgical and non-surgical treatments; learn about the relationships between osseous segments.
Before charting, the position that the foot is in needs to be reproducible (weightbearing with foot in angle and base of gait) with x-ray central beam directed at appropriate target (see positioning).
Generally, intra-observer variation/reliability is better than inter-observer variation/reliability . Errors can be common if use incorrect reference planes. Also charting looks at the two dimensional relationship between three-dimensional structures.
