Giant Cell Tumour
Benign fibrohistocytic tumour. Locally aggressive. Usually between 20-50yrs. May occur in conjunction with Paget’s disease.
Expansile lesion involving epiphysis and metaphysis may enlarge to erode subchondral bone and articular cartilage.
Present as deep bone pain – may have swelling.
X-ray – osteolytic lesion that extends into subchondral bone
Treatment – excision difficult due to proximity of articular cartilage.
