Vitamin D (choleciferol):
Sources – ultraviolet radiation of the skin, fortified milk
Function – absorption of calcium and phosphorous, maturation of bone, reabsorption of calcium.
Deficiency  rickets, osteomalacia
Toxicity  retardation of growth, anorexia, renal failure, calcium deposits in soft tissues
Effect on lower limb –
