Heloma Miliare (seed corns)

Heloma Miliare:
‘Seed corns” – have a ‘millet seed’ appearance.
Cause not known – assumed not to be solely due to mechanical stress

Clinical features:
Appear as small ‘beads’ on plantar surface; often asymptomatic; can be single or multiple; on non-weightbearing and weightbearing surfaces; not usually surrounded by area of callus (heloma durum is); skin often anhidrotic;

Differential diagnosis – small heloma durum; verrucae pedis

Treatment:
Debridement; emollients; if severe – use keratolytics.
