Flexor hallucis longus

Flexor hallucis longus:
• patient supine or sitting
• stabilises the 1st MPJ and maintains the ankle joint slightly plantarflexed
• test flexion of the 1st IPJ by having patient plantarflex hallux while applying a dorsiflexory force to proximal phalanx.
