Superficial peroneal nerve:
Branch of common peroneal down anterior aspect of leg (innervates peroneus longus and brevis muscles) pierces fascia 10 – 15 cm above lateral malleolus continues subcutaneously splits into medial and intermediate dorsal cutaneous branches 6cm above lateral malleolus sensory innervation to first and fifth toes.
Sensory distribution of this nerve may sometimes be replaced by the sural nerve.
