A number of podiatrists commented publically on this:
“I have had a lot of my patients ask me recently about ‘Barbie feet.’ I’m surprised this trend didn’t begin earlier. ‘Barbie feet’ are obviously better than wearing high heels because the position of the foot is temporary. Posing with ‘Barbie feet’ can make you look taller and can possibly make your calves look more muscular, but this pose is not recommended for long periods of time because you can get calf shortening and pain and inflation along the ball of the foot.” — Bobby Pourziaee, DPM, also known as “The High Heel Doc” of Rodeo Drive Podiatry (link)
The Wall Street Journal opined: “Why Barbie’s Arch Is a Podiatrist’s Nightmare“.

On TikTok, ##barbiefootchallenge was also getting a lot of attention for a short while, Leading Jodi Schoenhaus, DPM from the Foot Ankle & Leg Vein Center in Boca Raton, FL to comment:
“Although the Barbie Arch makes a woman’s legs appear longer and toner, it is not without risk.” “If someone attempts the pose once or twice, they will likely be ok and produce a great TikTok video. However, if attempting the pose and stride over long periods, there are some risks involved. The ankle is unstable, which can lead to ligament sprains and injuries, commonly seen with high heel use.”
