Fragile X Syndrome:
Causes up to 25% of mental retardation/developmental disabilities.
Incidence of 1/1250 males; 1/2500 females
Inheritance is x linked dominant.
Characteristics – high prevalence of otitis media in first six months; mitral valve prolapse; hyperextensibility of connective tissue ( flat feet); long narrow face; prominent ears; crowding of teeth; seizures.
