Phalangeal fractures

Common fracture in foot.
Usually spiral-oblique fracture

Interosseus, abductor, adductor and flexor muscles attach to base of proximal phalanx  may cause displacement.

Treatment:
Immobilisation – felt and splintage to adjacent toes; silicone orthodigital device can be used to maintain immobilisation and alignment
Use a surgical/cast shoe
If displaced  closed reduction under local anaesthesia – maybe use Kirschner wire fixation
