Myoclonus:
• brief sudden shock like muscular contraction – may involve whole muscle or smaller number of muscle fibres
• always simple, brief and unsustained
• originates in CNS
• may be associated with epilepsy, postcerebral anoxia, familial essential myoclonus, spinal cord tumour
