Vitamin A (retinol):
Sources – liver, fish liver oils, milk, cream, egg yolk, butter, dark leafy vegetables, yellow fruits, carrots
Function – photoreceptors in retina; lysosome stability, glycoprotein synthesis, prevents drying of skin, induces differentiation of epithelial cells
Deficiency  night blindness, perifollicular hyperkeratosis, higher levels of mortality and morbidity in children fro, respiratory infections and gastraenteritis, dry skin
Toxicity  headache, peeling of skin, hair loss, bone thickening and pain
Effect on lower limb –
